Central Communications is an integral part of all field operations. Radio Room Supervisors are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Central Communications Unit, including scheduling, review of Radio Room Operator work, ensuring proper notifications to all required personnel and outside entities, and certifying that all reports are properly completed and maintained. Radio Room Supervisors will also be responsible to train new hires and other staff, as well as perform evaluations of subordinates. Along with supervising Radio Room Operators, Radio Room Supervisors are responsible for information gathering, prioritizing, and dispatching calls on an ongoing basis utilizing a computerized-base station. Radio Room Supervisors will be required to perform driver and vehicle license checks utilizing information from TLC's databases and the Department of Motor Vehicle's database and relay this information back to TLC Officers. Supervisors will also be responsible for maintaining the activity log for their particular channel, including logging all incoming calls from TLC Officers. They will also be responsible for relaying calls for emergency services when required.

Qualification Requirements
1. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience in the operation of two-way radio equipment, at least one of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or

2. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience of phone/operator/dispatcher work involving logging or relaying of voice transmission and/or messages, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or

3. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience in highway traffic operations, highway safety operations, highway communications or a related field, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

License Requirement
A Motor Vehicle Operator's License may be required in some agencies.

Special Note:
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must also have at least one year of experience in Assignment Level I.

One year of experience dealing with the public, including the obtaining of information from persons. Must have a clear, strong speaking voice. Must be computer literate. Able to keep detailed notes. Able to work under pressure and multi-task.
