NYC Parks Workforce Development unit administers various employment programs throughout the Agency, and provides onboarding, on-the-job training, career coaching and specialized training opportunities to trainees in the Parks Opportunity Program (POP).

Major Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform responsible work and assigned tasks for the Workforce Development unit.
- Assist with conducting interviews for program applicants.
- Assist with checking of all employment applications for accuracy and consistency with established policies and procedures.
- Assist with preparation of necessary documents for personnel folders and maintain accurate database/electronic records.
- Assist with new employee orientations.
- Assist with tracking of employment statuses of program participants and record outcomes in a timely manner in prescribed databases.
- Assist with monitoring of trends within program and provide analyses to management.
- Assist with purchasing, inventory and operational needs.
- Expedite the hiring process by soliciting the timely submission of required documents from applicants.
- In the absence (or at the direction) of the Citywide Onboarding Coordinator, serve as a liaison with other Parks divisions and city agencies including the Human Resources Administration (HRA).
- Work closely with the Onboarding Team to ensure all applicants are processed. Identify and communicate emerging issues to supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

1. Administrative experience. 2. Excellent communication and organizational skills. 3. Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. 4. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. 5. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
