Major Responsibilities
- Under supervision of the Administrator for Ocean Breeze, perform functions related to event management in regard to timing event system, equipment, computer networking, and software while maintaining event databases at Ocean Breeze, including facilitating the timing of indoor track meets.
- Assist management in establishing membership and attendance goals.
- Perform tasks related to event management, including event timing.
- Develop and implement track meets and recreation programming, including fitness, afterschool or arts & culture programs for all age groups.
- In conjunction with the track & field coordinator, handle administrative tasks related to the WaveRunners Track & Field Program, including but not limited to meet entries, travel coordination, equipment inventory and logistics.
- Recruit new athletes and recreation center members to various programs.
- Preserve the condition of the facility ensuring that established health and safety standards are met.
- Participate in departmental training and conduct training seminars.
- Organize, promote, and assist with the delivery of special events.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management.
- Track, distribute equipment and supplies.
- Liaise with key stakeholders in Recreation.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

1. Experience and proficiency with event timing software such as lynx or hy-tek meet management systems. 2. Experience in track & field coaching and progressive youth sports development. 3. Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills. 4. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. 5. Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access. 6. Ability to initiate and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. 7. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency is required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
