- Under direction of the Chief of Staten Island Recreation with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, develop, deliver and coordinate community programs.
- Foster an understanding of New York City’s youth, social, cultural, recreation, sports and fitness programming needs.
- Assess overall recreation center needs for Staten Island Recreation.
- Provide the Chief of Recreation with purchasing and accounting support.
- Serve as a point of contact for the New York Council funding allotments.
- Assist with seasonal hiring and onboarding.
- Establish action plans, set goals and ensure deadlines are met.
- Assist with the scheduling, planning, training and staffing of sports, youth and fitness programs for Staten Island Recreation.
- Liaise with key stakeholders in Recreation.

MOVEMENT IN THE FACE OF CIVIL SERVICE LISTS IS PROHIBITED UNDER CIVIL SERVICE LAW.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
1. Bachelor’s degree or further education in Therapeutic Recreation, Sports Management or a related field. 2. 3 years’ experience implementing recreational programming or community outreach. 3. Experience working with people with disabilities. 4. Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills. 5. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. 6. Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access. 7. Ability to initiate and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. 8. Valid New York State driver license.
