Crotona Park, a 127-acre flagship park in the southern Bronx, provides a beautiful combination of leisurely and active recreation, with rolling hills and lofty trees, a 3-acre lake and recreational facilities. The park’s features include: 11 playgrounds, 20 tennis courts, 4 baseball fields, 2 soccer fields, 1 pickleball court, handball and basketball courts, a nature center on the shore of Indian Lake and the largest pool in the Bronx. Over the past several years, Crotona has undergone tremendous improvements due to strong support of the community, local elected officials, Parks & Recreation and the City Parks Foundation. Today, the park is thriving with activity and continues to undergo a remarkable restoration, with the rehabilitation of major landscapes completed, the pool house in design and more projects to follow.
Major Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Crotona Park Administrator to provide daily technical and logistical support for the Maintenance and Operations of Crotona Park, a 127-acre flagship Park.
- Under the supervision of the Crotona Park Administrator provides outreach to local groups, assist with developing a constituency for the park. Assist with meetings, support community groups and community group activities sponsored by the Administrator and Park partners including Friends of Crotona Park, the New York Junior Tennis League (NYJTL) and the Crotona Park Dog Run Group.
- Oversee and coordinate volunteer projects, keep accurate records of volunteer activities, volunteer waivers, track volunteer supplies, equipment and keep updated inventory records.
- Use Park’s web calendar to enter the Crotona Park produced public events to ensure programs and stewardship opportunities are accounted for, ensure programs get shared to specific park newsletters, Parks website and the Community Board. Assist with staffing priority events during weekdays, night and weekends as needed.
- Provide administrative support to the Crotona Park administrative office as needed on a daily basis.
- Provide excellent customer service to the public in person, via email and on the phone, and assist with coordinating resolutions to issues requiring immediate attention with the Administrator.
- Project manage special projects as needed to improve the public’s overall engagement and enjoyment of Crotona Park.
- Provide assistance to the Administrator with identifying grants. Assist with updating Crotona Park Maps and guides.
- Contact and work with vendors to obtain reasonable prices for services, equipment and supplies, coordinate delivery and work closely with Administrator to meet purchasing needs.

MOVEMENT IN THE FACE OF CIVIL SERVICE LISTS IS PROHIBITED UNDER CIVIL SERVICE LAW.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Ability to work with diverse constituencies. 5. Ability to work weekends and holidays. 6. Valid New York State driver license.
