The Concessions unit at NYC Parks creates and manages concession agreements for a wide variety of businesses that operate on parkland, including pushcart vendors, restaurants, snack bars, golf courses, indoor tennis facilities, ice skating rinks, horse riding facilities and more. Project Development Coordinators (PDCs) for Concessions help identify partners in the private sector and at nonprofit organizations to help provide world-class services to enhance the park going experience for Parks patrons. The concessions that PDCs for Concessions oversee help increase the activation of our parks, enhancing the enjoyment of its visitors and securing a valuable revenue stream for the city.

Major Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform difficult and responsible work for the Concessions unit.
- Manage the concession solicitation, evaluation and award processes from research and development of ideas to implementation of a license agreement. Assist in the license agreement negotiation process.
- Coordinate with the Parks Legal division, the City Law department and the Mayor's Office of Contract Services on concession solicitations and awards.
- Serve as the point person for a portfolio of active concession projects across the city to help ensure high-quality service delivery to the public.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities to enhance the visitor experience at Parks.
- Foster strong working relationships with local businesses and assist Parks in expanding its network of potential partners.
- Attend Community Board meetings, perform on-site walkthroughs and conduct public bid openings.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

1. Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills. 2. Ability to work independently and initiate projects. 3. Financial analysis experience. 4. Proficiency in computer software including Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. 5. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency is required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
