The NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC), Office of Diversity and Industry Relations (ODIR), seeks a Project Coordinator to serve as a liaison between the agency’s Public Buildings Division, Sponsor Agencies, and the Business and Workforce Development Unit (BWDU), the unit which manages the agency’s Mentoring Program. The selected candidate will prepare, track, and update project schedules and forecast planning; monitor active operations of all DDC Public Building projects throughout the five boroughs with a strategic focus on opportunities to increase the number of Public Building projects available to the Mentoring Program; and participate in weekly meetings with the Business and Workforce Development team to discuss industry trends, new regulations, and project progress. The Project Coordinator will work with DDC staff to update or create course curriculum and content for Mentoring Program participants, identify and manage project costs and budgets based on estimated models and bid values; assist Mentoring Program participants to resolve construction, design, payment issues; and work with agency staff to provide Mentoring Program participants constructive performance feedback. In addition, the candidate will process and complete the BWDU support services assessment forms, develop Technical Assistance roadmaps for program participants, and review outside consultant assignments to ensure that all work is performed in compliance with sponsor agencies’ requirements.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Candidates should possess experience in general construction and construction administration. The successful candidate will demonstrate that s/he has excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable having direct interaction with high-level public officials. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
