Job Description

A&CM aims to preserve and modernize NYCHA buildings and apartments through strategic portfolio planning, comprehensive design standards, innovative financing and project delivery models, strong partnership with NYCHA residents and other stakeholders, and effective program and project management of capital investments. The Comprehensive Modernization Program is a community development program that is seeking a Project Coordinator (PC) within the Comprehensive Modernization Department (Comp Mod). Comp Mod is a department under NYCHA’s Chief Asset and Capital Management Division to implement integrated, comprehensive renovations spanning multiple building systems, building interiors/exteriors, and site/grounds improvements, at NYCHA developments. This approach is expected to allow developments to be renovated more quickly, at a higher quality, and with better value for money, while also holistically addressing all compliance requirements and the broader needs of residents and community partners.

Reporting to the Director of Comprehensive Modernization, the PC will be responsible for a wide range of workflows to support the Department’s portfolio. The PC will be primarily responsible for working with Program Management staff, Construction Managers, Design Builders and Residents, as well as departments across NYCHA to resolve complex issues to facilitate administrative functions related to project funding, resident relocation, initiation, procurement, design, construction, and completion. This role requires administrative tasks for tracking critical items with current status, quality control and editing of documents for project controls, and the ability to work independently and report up to the Director.

The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

- Support Program Manager with NYCHA specific processes with internal and external departments to support the progression of Comp Mod projects.
- Prepare and manage project documentation and processes, including sub-contractor approvals, procurement submissions, OMB/Comptroller submissions, and other core functions for project administration.
- Utilize project management software Trimble Unity Construct (eBuilder) to maintain accurate project records.
- Coordinate with Program Management staff, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of project components.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and progress summaries for internal and external stakeholders in Excel, Power Bi, and other NYCHA systems.
- Maintain organized digital filing systems and databases.
- Monitor and track budgets, OMB/Comptroller submissions, vendor invoices, program management invoices and community outreach team purchase orders in collaboration with the finance team.
- Perform other related duties at the request of the Director to support department operations.

Demonstrated record of supporting complex organizational initiatives with a focus on rigorous and practical use of data and analysis, project management, stakeholder coordination, cross-functional teaming, process streamlining, and resource optimization. Experience with business process improvement, operations or management consulting will be an added benefit, particularly as it pertains to strengthening evidence-based management practices.
- Exemplary Communication Skills & Collaborative Approach: Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across diverse backgrounds. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

1.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects; or
2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of the experience and/or college education as described in "1" above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of credit will be given for each 30 semester credits of college education leading to a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration.
