The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the nation’s largest for-hire transportation agency, licensing and regulating the City’s yellow and green taxicabs, for-hire vehicles (including apps like Uber, Lyft, and Via), commuter vans, and luxury limousines. TLC develops and enforces rules to promote safety, transparency, accessibility, as well as consumer and driver protection for a vital mode of transport in New York City. The vehicles, businesses, and drivers licensed and regulated by the agency move over one million people a day. The TLC’s Division of Program, Planning and Management is seeking a college aide to provide support for projects related to Accessible Dispatch (AD), For-Hire Vehicle Accessibility Services (FHV), and the Owner Driver Resource Center (ODRC). Through expansion of targeted services, TLC seeks to enhance resources for TLC drivers, small businesses, and the clients they serve. The selected candidate will provide support to staff members as it relates to engagement, community needs, and data to better assist TLC licensees and medallion owners. The college aide will have the opportunity review existing resources, evaluate data, and have the opportunity discuss the division’s current strategies with team members.
The duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with analyzing data and metrics across several programs including legal services, financial counseling, and accessible transportation services.
- Supporting with analysis for improving and enhancing community outreach and service delivery.
- Reviewing key program indicators to monitor service performance.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support program operations.
- Reviewing promotional materials.
For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
- Experience using excel for data analysis. - Knowledge of python, r-studio, or other data analysis platforms is a plus. - Interest in program development and management. - The ability to take initiative and work collaboratively across teams.
