Job Description
The Procurement Specialist will perform sourcing, liaising, and negotiating with new and existing suppliers to improve and streamline office functionality. This will include creating documentation necessary for the acquisition of materials and services, reviewing supplies, works, and services to ensure compliance with company procedures and best procurement practices, working with the finance team throughout the procurement cycle to assist with forecasting and budgeting, and developing detailed sourcing and category plans to maximize effectiveness and efficiency. The Procurement Specialist will maintain positive working relationships with strategic suppliers to ensure cost and quality targets are met, analyze market and delivery trends so as to develop procurement technologies and processes that support those trends, interact with key stakeholders in identifying operational needs, assist in vendor selection, management, and performance. The Procurement Specialist will also re-negotiate contracts with suppliers to produce better savings, provide updates about procurement-related progress and potential, and perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time satisfactory professional experience in purchasing, procurement, contract administration or a related field, at least eighteen months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising professional personnel performing duties in one or more of the above fields; or
2. A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have the eighteen months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience described in "1" above.

Possession of an acceptable professional procurement certification may be substituted for up to one year of the experience described in "1" above. However, all candidates must have the eighteen months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

The successful candidate should possess the following: - Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management or a similar field at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. - Proven work experience as a Procurement Specialist - Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies. - Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills - Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills - Proficiency with business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems. - Understanding of risk management - Understanding of and ability to enhance sustainability. - Good financial understanding - Ability to collaborate effectively and possess strong time management skills.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
