Job Description
The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards the smallest jail system possible without compromising public safety. The DOC is solely responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, volunteer and people in custody inside our jails. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to providing people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with over 10,000 diverse professionals and knowledge experts.

The New York City Department of Correction is seeking a candidate to serve as a Power BI Administrator. The ideal candidate will help drive best-in-class adoption and develop methods for improving use of Power BI data and reporting services. The Power BI Administrator will demonstrate specialized skills in the Power BI platform and development methodology and the ability to contribute to the strategic development of Power BI reports, applications and data visualizations across programs.

Typical duties for this position will include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for providing full lifecycle Power BI administration (patches, updates, AD security, account
management, capacity management, documenting processes) including the ability to work with data
owners and report developers to support their needs in the best way possible.
- Grow and integrate Power BI services by designing and deploying workspaces, data models, app tiers,
gateways, report services, dashboard support, Teams integration, and deploying mobile apps.
- Configure data gateways for access to multiple data sources across the enterprise. Serve as subject
matter expert providing content for user training and self-service instruction.
- Deliver services and solutions using the Power Platform suite with Azure Integrations
- Manage Environments, Configurations, Integrations and Deployments.
- Manage multiple environments, such as Production, Test and Development.
- Standardize and optimize the ways data is stored and retrieved.
- Provide architecture designs, configurations, administration, and functional support.
- Create and maintain documentation for the environment and solutions.
- Provide daily production system support and user support.
- Provide knowledge transfer to DOC staff.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.


Preferred Skills

- Power Automate and Dynamics 365 experience on Azure Cloud. - Microsoft Power Apps and Azure specific training or certifications. - Knowledge of building Office 365 solutions including Power Automate (Flow), Power Apps, Power BI, Dynamics 365, SharePoint Online. - Expert knowledge of building apps, page layouts and content types using the O365 API. - Experience in developing solutions within Power Platform (Power Apps Portals, Canvas and Model Driven Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) and Common Data Service. - Experience in using multiple OOTB Connectors with PowerApps and Power Automate, and ability to create custom connectors for PowerApps and Microsoft Automate. - Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills. - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals. - Must be open to off-hour on-call support in high paced environment
