The Criminal Justice Bureau seeks qualified candidates for Police Attendant for the Brooklyn Court Section. The selected candidates will be responsible for tasks such as but not limited to:

* Receives and vouchers personal property.
* Reports to the desk officer any unusual physical condition of prisoners in custody, or in the detention area.
* Attending to the personal needs of prisoners such as providing food, coffee, clothing, blankets and other essentials.
* Maintaining cleanliness of the cells; checks cells for dangerous items and for properly operating doors.
* Preparing forms and maintains records relevant to assigned duties.
* In the absence of prisoners, performing other clerical or appropriate duties as directed.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loan after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full time for a qualifying employer, such as a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization. You may be able to consolidate a Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) and Federal Perkins Loan into a Direct Loan to qualify for PSLF.

In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
