The goal of the 23rd Precinct is to provide a safe environment for the community of Harlem, while enforcing state laws and city ordinances. We reach out to the community in many
different ways in an attempt to demonstrate our commitment to the people we serve. We attend community meetings to alert the public on how to stay safe. We aide the elderly in their pursuit to maintain their independence. We inform both crime and domestic violence victims of their civil rights. We are also a referral service for any situation that may arise. We're open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and are committed to helping the community in achieving the highest quality of life possible.

Under direct supervision, the 124 Room Police Administrative Aide is expected to use Department rules, regulations, and guidelines to prepare various department forms and file records such as compliant and accident reports. the PAA is responsible for processing payroll, chart changes and handle all payroll related to CMOS including School Crossing Guards The work must be completed as expeditiously as possible as some cases are time sensitive. The role of a PAA is to support the uniform members in aiding the community in achieving their unified goals. This position may require the candidates to work day, evening or midnight tours, including weekends and holidays. A self-starter with a positive attitude would thrive in this position.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and
(a) One year of full-time satisfactory experience performing clerical, word processing or data entry duties; or
(b) One year of full-time satisfactory experience in public contact work requiring the obtaining and recording of information from persons; or
(c) Completion of 30 semester credits from an accredited college; or
(d) Two years of active military duty; or

2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to 1(a), 1(b), 1(c), or 1(d) above.
However, all candidates must possess a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.

Skills Requirement (title spec)
Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute.


Preferred Skills

CITYTIME Payroll Certified and CPR-ROLL CALL Experience.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
