The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.
ACS’ Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides innovative IT solutions that effectively address the agency's business and operational requirements. As a central facilitator, OIT plays a crucial role in implementing and ensuring compliance with both city and state, IT, and security policies and procedures. By doing so, it ensures the seamless integration of technology across the organization while maintaining adherence to regulatory guidelines and best practices. OIT is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Platform Developer Undergraduate Intern to join our Business Solutions Unit.
As a Platform Developer Undergraduate Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in application development and design, cloud-based solutions, data integration, and DevOps. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with OIT's Business Solutions Unit, which plays a pivotal role in building, enhancing, and supporting the 76 in-house applications critical to ACS operations.
- Application Development and Design: Help in development of cloud-based applications using Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power Portal, Microsoft Dynamics, and Salesforce, adhering to various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies such as Hybrid Agile
- Data Integration: Develop and execute data integrations and feeds from Oracle and SQL Server databases using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) integrations and APIs
- DevOps: Manage source code using version control systems such as Git, and develop, validate, and deploy code using DevOps pipeline
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of IT application development process and overall IT operations in a government setting
- Enhance abilities in coordinating and executing organizational tasks, working with various teams

As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field - Understanding of low-code/no-code development platforms such as Microsoft Power platform or Salesforce - Basic understanding of database queries - Strong interpersonal and communication skills
