The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), Human Capital Line of Service, Bureau of Examinations performs responsible work in the establishment of qualifications for civil service positions, as well as in the development, validation, rating and administration of competitive civil service examinations, and certification of lists of eligible applicants.

Physical Tests are scheduled around the physical testing needs of City Agencies (NYC Fire Department and NYC Department of Sanitation) and typically occur twice annually each for a period of approximately three months, and each round will be administered to approximately 3,000 candidates. At the end of each physical test round, assignments are concluded until the next physical test round is held.

The Bureau of Examinations seeks to appoint one (1) Community Coordinator to serve in the role of Physical Test Coordinator. The Physical Test Coordinator will report directly to the Director of the Administrative, Customer, and Exam Support (ACES) team. The candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:
- Serve as the primary contact for all Physical Tests, including coordinating all Physical Tests and supervising the Special Examiners (Physical Tests);
- Ensure that the Special Examiners (Physical Tests) directs candidates in the performance of physical test events; inspects candidates to ensure they are properly equipped for the test; accompanies candidates to physical test events and supervises the removal of equipment; evaluates candidates' performance during each event; records required data (e.g., score, time) for each candidate on each event; sets up physical test materials and equipment for each candidate;
- Ensure that the Physical Exam Test Monitors are properly assisting candidates during the physical tests, in accordance with their job tasks and responsibilities;
- Create testing schedule based on prescribed guidelines;
- Liaise with other departments to procure test materials;
- Compile, prepare and analyze reports, as required;
- Offer guidance, coaching, and support to direct reports to help them improve efficiency in their tasks and processes;
- During the time between physical test rounds, this role will assist the Test Administration team in processing candidates for primary and alternate exam events; and
- Perform other bureau-related duties and special projects, as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

- Ability to organize work and provide a high level of time management and planning. - Possess excellent and effective communication skills (written and oral), including the ability to understand and be understood in English. - Possess strong analytical/problem-solving abilities. - Possess strong attention to details. - Ability to compile, prepare and analyze reports using electronic databases. - Possess strong computer skills, including experience with the Microsoft Suite. - Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic work atmosphere to be able to successfully handle multiple activities. - Ability to work well within a team, meet deadlines, analyze problems, and handle potentially difficult situations.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
