NYCHA Accounts Payable Department is seeking to hire an accountant to support its Invoice Processing unit with increased volume from operations of NYCHA as well as Trust. Invoice Processing unit processes all invoices except the ones falling under Prevailing Wage unit.

- Review, audit and process invoices in PO Regular, Special and Contract queues and backup to PW PO queue
- Review, audit and process invoices in Pre-approved Special queue.
- Assist vendors and developments per Transformation plan implemented recently by explaining of departmental procedures to submit invoices correctly and processing PO receipts once
goods delivered or services rendered.
- Process, review, and audit CPD/A&CM invoices.
- Create header and matches invoices to purchase orders if needed by Prevailing Wage unit. Release PW hold for invoices in compliance to facilitate payments to vendors
- Use Oracle database, research all invoices' inquiries regarding Purchase order, Releases and all PO related issues for accuracy
- Respond to all internal and external vendor payment inquires.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or
2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as an Accountant - Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.


Preferred Skills

1. Education: A four-year college degree in accounting, psychology, finance, or similar degrees is preferred 2. Experience working in accounts payable processing field 3. Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer 4. Knowledge of MarkView and Oracle systems 5. Ability to work with a large volume of invoices 6. Reporting and research skills are a plus
