The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing on engagement that reaches the masses of everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring that the government remains accountable to serving the people of this great City. Our work is designed as a long term project – we are building the power of everyday New Yorkers and we are building a City that works for all of us.

The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Outreach and Engagement Manager will:
Organize the administration’s relationship management for key policy delivery and events, including the development and implementation of systems for outreach and coordination across teams with elements such as asking teams to contribute to building stakeholder outreach lists, delegating outreach, and managing follow-through.
Facilitate collaboration across multiple teams to engage advocates and member-based organizations, and keep stakeholders and constituencies informed of important Administration updates through invitations to events, briefings, and public-facing activities.
Build, maintain, and share strong relationships with advocates, member-based organizations, and key stakeholders across priority policy areas with other governmental offices.
Help to define purpose, size, scale, and type of engagement for marquee announcements and public events through collaboration and precise communication across teams.
Collaborate with the Front Office, Deputy Mayors’ teams, Intergovernmental Affairs, Communications Team, Advance Team, and other relevant agencies and offices to ensure outreach efforts are well-coordinated and strategically aligned, and all relevant logistical details are assigned.
Track and manage engagement activities, maintaining an organized record of stakeholder and constituency relationships and outreach touchpoints.
Anticipate stakeholder concerns and proactively share insights and updates with relevant teams and agencies.
Additional duties as required.

You are a strategic thinker and a proactive problem-solver.

You have clear, precise, and effective communication across diverse audiences.
You have a highly detail-oriented approach with a passion for logistics.
You are a motivated self-starter who can manage complicated projects with minimal guidance.
You have experience with spreadsheets through Excel or databases using AirTable.
You are an enthusiastic collaborator.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and 3 years of experience in government and/or community organizing centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and 4 years of experience in government and/or organizing centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Experience in government and/or community organizing.

Minimum Qualifications


1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?

2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?

3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?

4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?


Preferred Skills


You are excellent at collaboration and building and maintaining a wide array of working relationships. You have familiarity with event production and invite tools like Luma. You can stay calm under pressure, including at public events or during emergencies.

Residency Requirement


New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of the interview.
