The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and approximately 10,600 employees who manage and maintain 325 developments that house over 400,000 residents.
NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to over 200,000 additional families.
Under the direction of the Abatement Assistant Director and with wide latitude for independent initiative, judgment and decision making, the Administrative Supervisor of Skilled Trades is responsible for the skilled trades operations.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
1. Conduct thorough strategic and needs assessment analyses to identify key areas for improvement.
2. Directly oversee both full-time and temporary staff, ensuring adherence to performance standards. Manage time and attendance records, promptly addressing any performance concerns.
Provide comprehensive training and coaching to staff members, working collaboratively to establish and exceed performance benchmarks. Take proactive measures to address and rectify any
performance issues that arise.
3. Swiftly diagnose operational challenges, evaluating various courses of action with realistic objectives and timeframes. Recommend and implement effective solutions, meticulously
documenting analysis and results to inform future decision-making processes.
4. Provide extensive training and mentorship to staff, emphasizing the importance of adhering to established authority policies and procedures. Ensure compliance when dealing with
extermination services, pesticide reporting, and other relevant programs.
5. Efficiently schedule work assignments, continuously monitoring performance metrics and managing inventory levels to support seamless operations.
6. Act as the primary representative of NYCHA in various meetings, effectively communicating the organization's objectives and initiatives.
7. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for both external stakeholders and internal partners, offering comprehensive insights into program progress and performance.
8. Coordinate and oversee lead abatement, lead based paint remediation, mold abatement, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
9. Evaluate and approve requests for overtime, strategically allocating resources to meet project demands while maintaining budgetary considerations.
10. Take a proactive approach to planning and coordinating extermination and maintenance projects on an Authority-wide basis, ensuring seamless execution and optimal outcomes. Collaborate
with relevant stakeholders to facilitate efficient project management and resource allocation.

Qualification Requirements
Six years of recent, satisfactory, full-time, paid progressively responsible experience in the one of the following trades in which the incumbent is to be employed: painting, carpentry, bricklaying, electrical work, plastering, plumbing or roofing, at least 18 months of which must have been as a foreman.
For appointment to the skilled trade specialty of Electrical Work, possession of a valid license as a Special Electrician issued by the New York City Department of General Services is required.
For appointment to the skilled trade specialty of Plumbing, possession of a valid Master Plumber license issued by the New York City department of Buildings is required.
Education at an accredited college or university in engineering, architecture or a related field may be substituted for general experience (but not for the 18 months of foreman experience described above) at the rate of one year of college for six months of experience up to a maximum of four years of college for two years of experience.
1. Possess EPA Inspector Certification and Lead Abatement Supervisor Certification 2. Possess extensive knowledge and experience in Lead Abatement Process. 3. Well versed in Maximo/Work order and review process. 4. Knowledge Microsoft Office software. 5. Knowledge of budget and data analysis.
