(Supervising Analyst / Unit Head)

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of more than 90 City agencies and entities.

The Executive Task Force is responsible for assisting the Director with management of the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: drafting budget briefing documents, tracking budgetary data, and communication with non-City parties including elected officials.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The duties of the position include the following activities:

- Report directly to the Chief of Staff to meet a wide range of operational and administrative goals at the agency.
- Coordinate internal processes to facilitate decision-making for senior leadership on long-term fiscal strategy.
- Oversee and maintain tracking of funding requests, savings, fiscal risks, etc.
- Work with the Office of Budget Review to maintain up-to-date data during financial plans. This will require working in a fast-paced setting with new challenges and changing decisions from plan to plan.
- Create, edit, and coordinate distribution of Mayoral briefing documents during
each quarterly City Financial Plan.
- Assist in preparing materials and responses for other external communication including press inquiries, press releases, interview requests, etc.
- Support the review process for citywide hiring and promotion actions which may include data entry, tracking, and correspondence with internal/external City partners.
- Work with the Chief of Staff to implement agency-wide process improvement strategies.
- Work with all OMB task forces to collect information and provide updates for the Budget Director.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the Front Office team.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.


Preferred Skills

QUALIFICATIONS: - Must have excellent written and oral communications skills. - Must have strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills. - Knowledge of the New York City budget process is preferred. - Previous experience in an executive suite or in organizational decision making is a plus. - Excellent editing and proofreading skills are a must. - The ideal candidate is positive, diplomatic, and has strong interpersonal skills. - Must be able to integrate seamlessly into well-established workstreams and systems. - Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. - Must be able to handle multiple deadlines and work well in a fast-paced environment. - Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
