Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY OF $19.50 PER HOUR.

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.

ACS’ Division of Administration (ADMIN) ensures that ACS has the resources and support necessary to function effectively and efficiently. Offices with ADMIN include Procurement, Facilities, Personnel, Administrative Services, and Accountability and Audit. ADMIN’s functions include personnel management as well as building maintenance, workplace safety, health and security, transportation, purchasing of goods and services, graphic services, and records management.

Within ADMIN, the Facilities Help Desk team, which is housed within Real Estate Design and Construction Facilities Management Unit, oversees facility issues across 2 ACS operated sites throughout the five boroughs. The Help Desk processes, on average, over 500 tickets per month, and addresses all issues directly through trades staff, contracted vendors or landlord personnel. The Help Desk also coordinates the delivery of goods, equipment and services to support the operational function across various divisions. ADMIN’s Office of Real Estate, Design + Construction & Facilities Management is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Operations Management Undergraduate Intern to support the daily functions of the Facilities Help Desk.

As an Operations Management Undergraduate Intern, you will be responsible for assisting with the Facilities Help Desk Team with monitoring help desk tickets to ensure work is being performed within adequate time frames. This internship offers a unique and excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience working alongside a team responsible for coordinating the commissioning and decommissioning of sites, including the relinquishment and/or transfer of furniture, equipment and personnel while ensuring a smooth transition at new locations. Additionally, as a member of the 2026, ACS Summer Internship Program cohort, you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops, lunch and learns, speaker events, NYC government tours, and networking opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide Facilities Help Desk Customer Service support to ACS employees via telephone, email or direct face to face interactions

- Assist with scheduling deliveries, using in-house laborers or vendors

- Help with monitoring move matrices to ensures staff workstations are adequately cleaned and prepared for employee on-boarding or relocation

- Support inventory control and monitoring of supplies, and replenishing supplies in pantries weekly and when inventory is low

- Shadow Facilities Help Desk team when conducting temperature checks and inspecting areas, as needed

- Work on special projects related to the ACS Headquarters relocation of staff

- Develop skills in managing an enterprise-wide ticketing system

- Enhance abilities in coordinating and executing organizational tasks and events

Minimum Qualifications

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
