The Mechanical Maintenance and Operations group is responsible for the preventative maintenance, repairs and operations of various mechanical systems within 55+ DCAS-managed court and non-court buildings. They are also responsible for maintaining all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment for safe, reliable, and efficient operation, including seasonal tune-ups; filter, belt, steam trap replacement, lubrication and perform emergency repairs on a 24-hour basis.

- Oilers outlines a very hands-on, technically demanding role. Oilers work under direct supervision to ensure that critical mechanical equipment such as power plant machinery, pumps, engines, compressors, and other operational devices remains in peak condition. Their tasks extend from routine lubrication and cleaning to reading gauges, maintaining logs, managing lubricant inventories, and even operating lubricant filtering and purifying equipment. This job is crucial in preventing equipment failures and ensuring smooth operations, thereby supporting the overall functionality of the facilities managed by city agencies and helping to adhere to LL87 and LL95 for GHG emissions targets.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience in the lubrication, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment; or
2. One and one-half years of experience as described in “1" above plus graduation from an approved trade, technical, or vocational high school or completion of an approved internship program; or
3. One year of experience as described in “1" above plus an associate degree from an accredited school in mechanical technology.
