JOB DESCRIPTION:
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Facilities Management Division, Architectural & Engineering Services Section seeks a qualified Administrative Engineer, NM-I (Mechanical Engineer) to assist with Department operations.
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor design process and its progress to ensure code compliance and efficient, effective, quality design within budget.
- Prepare, or supervise the preparation of, drawings related to the engineering plan for major construction projects, remodeling or repair of public works and structures or installations.
- Determine and prioritize work assignments to achieve annual project completion goals.
- Manage project schedules, priorities and emergencies.
- Supervise the preparation of specifications, cost estimates and quantity take-offs.
- Ensure that Department of Buildings (DOB) and other required regulatory approvals are in place as per project schedule.
- Support and coordinate work with other Capital design and construction units, such as engineering and construction management.
- Evaluate bids, contractors and consultants' performance to recommend award of contracts for architectural projects.

1. A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer.
2. Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.
A New York State Professional Engineer License is required. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the following specialized disciplines: - LEED AP, BD & C Accreditation - Certified Energy Manager (CEM) - Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) - Certified Building Commissioning (CBCP) - Proficient in AutoCad - Strong time management and task abilities - Excellent Communication skills, including public speaking - A driver's license valid in New York State
