Job Description

NYC Parks is the steward of over 30,000 acres of land – 14 percent of New York City – including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. We are New York City’s principal providers of recreational and athletic facilities and programs. Citywide Services’ central maintenance team cares for over 150 synthetic turf fields. Join our team to install and repair synthetic turf fields.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under direct supervision, assist with the routine maintenance, operations and repairs.
- Responsible for proper installation and removal of turf materials and shock pad. Glue or sew seams.
- Attach turf to nailer board with nail gun. Inspect turf nailer border and fix as required.
- Remove existing safety hazards on subsurface.
- Add and ensure subbase planarity.
- Fix any broken items non-field related (i.e., Goals, Fencing, Benches, and Drinking Fountains).
- Conduct visual inspections of building equipment and conditions; perform related work, such as driving to and from work sites. Inspect facilities and property, make repairs, and remove graffiti.
- Maintain, adjust, and make minor repairs of building hardware, furniture, shelving, and equipment.
- Conduct general maintenance of property and facilities, including refuse material. Spread infill at required levels and paint field lines.
- File reports; keep records and accurate logs of daily activities.

Work Location: Randall’s Island

Duration: April 2025 – October 2025

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
For positions in certain agencies, a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York is required. This license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.

Fees: Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee of $40.00. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to an $101.25 background check fee.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson or helper in the electrical trades, the mechanical trades, or the construction or maintenance of buildings; or

2. At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades in a trade school, technical school or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience. Six months of experience will be credited for each year of full-time acceptable training or education.

Residency Requirement
