The Commissioner’s Office provides direction, guidance, and thought partnership to all lines of service. The office provides oversight of agency initiatives, sets the overall direction and mission for the agency, and resolves individual and agency customer service-related requests. Conducts targeted monitoring of agency internal controls to identify and address potential operational weaknesses to improve the quality of performance, efficiency, and the public positioning of DCAS via external communications.
It is comprised of seven units:
- Audit and Compliance Services
- City Record
- Communications
- DCAS Diversity and EEO
- Special Events
- Strategic Operations
- External Affairs
Special Events plans internal agencywide events and coordinates DCAS-owned buildings’ film shoots. It also provides technical and event support for all citywide events for the agencies and for those sponsored by the Mayor, First Lady and City Council.
The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire two (2) laborers to work within the ceremonial unit. This unit falls under the Commissioner’s Office special events unit. The DCAS ceremonial unit supports all Mayoral, agency, and city sponsored events throughout the five boroughs.
Responsibilities and requirements of a laborer working at DCAS and in the ceremonial unit include but may not be limited to:
- Under immediate supervision, performing common unskilled laboring work requiring physical strength.
- Moving, lifting, and carrying items of various weights and sizes.
- Assisting with building stages, hanging signage, putting up tents, setting up pipe & drape, and other event-related duties upon request.
- May utilize hand or power-driven equipment in the performance of duties.
- Required to operate motor vehicles in connection with the performance of duties.
- Must have the ability to follow verbal directions and/or coaching to execute assigned tasks on schedule.
- Ability to learn from directions, observations, and applying procedures with good judgement.
- Capable of working on a team and independently; ability to work with others appropriately.
- Requires a flexible schedule to support the needs of the Mayor and City agencies.
Additional Requirements:
- Possession of Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) valid in the State of New York is required. Employees must maintain the Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) during their employment.
- Position may require overtime (early mornings, nights, and weekends).

License Requirements
Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
