The NYC Department of Transportation Office of Safety Education & Outreach (SEO) is seeking a City Laborer to handle the storage and transportation of Vision Zero promotional items, educational printed materials, and equipment that are distributed to schools, senior centers, community-based organizations and other constituent locations. The Laborer will report directly to the SEO Chief of Staff. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: overseeing the receipt, classification, storage, care, and distribution of our inventory of materials, supplies and equipment at our 59 Maiden Lane Office and other warehouses/storage spaces. Specific tasks will include: ensuring all goods are stored properly or delivered promptly to users; handling the distribution and loading/unloading of Vision Zero materials, inspecting all incoming shipments to ensure requested quantities are received in full and in good condition; inspecting all outgoing orders used by safety educators at schools and community centers for accuracy; ensuring the office stockroom is kept stocked with supplies; picking up and dropping off inventory to the warehouse; helping to resolve issues related to deliveries, shipments, shortages, etc.; arranging for the transfer or disposal of obsolete items; handling the loading, unloading and dispatching of materials; transferring materials from the outside warehouse to main office; operating equipment like pallet jacks and skid steers when necessary to perform loading and unloading; keeping storage areas neat and orderly; setting up tents, tables and chairs for all Vision zero special events; and performing related duties as needed..
Preferred skills
Preference will be given to candidates who posses a Class B license valid in the state of New York. This license must be maintained throughout the duration of employment at DOT.
The preferred candidate must have the ability to lift equipment/boxes/material up to 50-60 lbs.

License Requirements
Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
A Class B license valid in the State of New York Ability to lift equipment/boxes/material up to 50-60 lbs.
