Job Description
NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
DOF’s Tax Audit and Enforcement Division is charged with the audit of all business and excise taxes administered by New York City. The division conducts audits related to corporate, personal, sales, and use taxes. City tax auditors conduct audits of selected audit candidates with a goal of determining the appropriate tax liability of each taxpayer and applying NYC rules and laws in accordance with the City’s policies and procedures.
The Office of Tax Audit is charged with the audit of all business and excise taxes administered by the City of New York. Tax Audit conducts audits of general corporation tax, business corporation tax, commercial rent tax, unincorporated business tax, hotel tax, utility tax, real property transfer tax, and bank tax. Tax Audit also conducts NYC personal income tax and sales and use tax audits within New York City. Tax auditors conduct audits of selected candidates in the various administered taxes, with a goal of determining the appropriate tax liability of each taxpayer. The Office of Tax Audit includes the Field Unit, which conducts audits in the field, and the Non-field Unit, which conducts correspondence audits.
The IT Technician will report to the Senior Director of the Metro Units. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
-Oversee and manage end-to-end execution of complex IT projects, from initiation through completion, including defining scope, developing, and maintaining detailed project plans and work breakdown structures, scheduling key deliverables and milestones, identifying and mitigating risks, securing resources, and ensuring time stakeholder approval for deliverables.
-Lead the application and management of specialized methodologies or technologies on complex IT projects, recommending tailored approaches or advocating for exceptions to standard practices to ensure successful project delivery by imaging and reimaging New York State (NYS) computers for the Audit and Metro units.
-Apply in-depth business domain knowledge to define and validate project requirements, ensuring alignment with NYS secured devices.
-Communicate complex project details and strategic implications effectively between New York City and New York State.
-Identifies, assesses, and mitigates project risks and issues, to ensure the NYS server and devises are not compromised.
-Ensure successful delivery of high-impact technology solutions, that meet NYS and NYC goals.
-Image and reimage New York State (NYS) computers in stock; reimaging could take up to two days due to image file size.
-Provide technical support for NYS devices, including resolving trust certificate, domain, and Active Directory account issues often requiring reimaging of machines.
-Install, reinstall, and perform updates for NYS-related software applications such as AFE, ATS, Empire, VPN, Adobe Acrobat, Trellix, Microsoft Office, and others.
-Diagnose and repair hardware issues on NYS machines; replace defective parts and coordinate with Dell for part or system replacements.
-Resolve driver-related issues by installing or reinstalling system drivers.
-Fix peripheral-related issues, including undetected keyboards and mice, and resolve monitor/display problems
-Set up new auditor workstations by assembling monitors, keyboards, mice, and computers, and installing all necessary software and printer/device drivers.
-Assist users with file transfers from old to new computers and back up user data during the migration from Windows 8 to Windows 10; similar support will be needed for the upcoming Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration.
-Resolve network and connectivity issues, including internet and intranet access, and set up network configurations as needed.
-Assist with NYS RSA token password resets and general password/account lockout support.
-Troubleshoot and resolve secure printing issues with Konica printers, coordinating with vendor tech support as needed.
-Work with the NYS office in Albany to resolve issues such as print jobs stuck in the queue and corrupted folders.
-Travel to the New York State office to resolve computer issues that require in-office support.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.
