Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) supports the Department by acquiring, distributing, installing and maintaining Local Area Networks, personal computers, mainframe computers, software, and data communications networks. ITSD also plans and coordinates the implementation of advanced technology.

IT Security Specialist are responsible for improving the overall security posture of the organization. They evaluate, test and document security solutions and controls, and work closely with other security team members to remediate risk while ensuring the business is able to innovate. IT Security Specialist must continually adapt to stay a step ahead of cyber attackers and stay up to date on the latest methods attackers use to infiltrate computer systems. Analysts in this role are expected to consistently learn and grow. This is not a passive career opportunity, but rather one that requires a passion for security and rigor to protect the business. IT Security Specialist collaborate with internal and external audit and exam teams, along with technology management and business stakeholders.

The IT Security Specialist will be responsible for the following:
1. Plan, define and maintain policies, standards, configuration and operating procedures and guidelines
regarding security, identity and access. Define, manage and monitor data security, confidentiality,
integrity, and availability.
2. Monitors industry developments; liaises with vendors. Ensures compliance with Citywide and agency
security policies and standards. Recommends updates and improvements to agency security policies
and standards. Consults with agency executives to provide IT Security Policy guidance.
3. Identifies probable system exposure, compromise, problems or design flaws and escalates issues to
upper management to limit serious performance impact.
4. Design, implement and support Cisco-centric WAN, LAN, and wireless infrastructure.
5. Offers support to application development, network, server, database and storage teams regarding
new technologies, services, and system requirements.
6. Provide security design assistance on new products and internally-developed projects.
7. Manage and support remote access technologies (VPN, Terminal Services, etc).
8. Work with emerging technologies such as SD-Wan, Cisco ACI, and data center products.
9. Lead complex Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) configurations in terms of inter VRF routing
through firewalls, and service changing.


Minimum Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or,

Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.


Preferred Skills

-ACI Skill is required -Experience with SD-WAN, network switching (capacity planning & VLAN’s), network routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), WAN technologies (MPLS, VPN) and network firewalls -Experience Cisco wireless deployments, Cisco data center, load balancing. -5 years of related experience, including two years in an Engineer position. -Experience in executing physical equipment installs. -Cisco Certification is desired but not required. CCNP+, Understanding of MPLS, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, QOS -Knowledge of Data Center networking such as Nexus, and ACI -Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, attention to detail and meet deadlines. -Proficient in general office PC skills using MS Office and other various software applications or systems.
