The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is dedicated to serving the diverse Bronx County community of over 1.4 million individuals, ensuring fair justice and a safer Bronx. Given the critical importance of cybersecurity and the need for robust collaborative efforts, the Information Technology Bureau is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Specialist to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our systems and data, fostering effective communication and cooperation with external entities such as NYC OTI and Cyber Command.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborating with internal divisions, bureaus, and units, as well as external agencies like NYC OTI and Cyber Command, to assess and address cybersecurity needs, including ongoing cybersecurity accreditations.
Facilitating effective communication, requests, and cooperation across diverse entities to enhance overall security posture.
Conducting thorough and periodic security assessments/vulnerability scans to identify potential risks and weaknesses in systems and networks.
Implementing and maintaining security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection, encryption protocols, and secure coding standards.
Monitoring network traffic and system logs to detect and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
Developing, communicating, and enforcing cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with NYC OTI Cyber Command regulations and best practices.
Creating/maintaining agency Incident Response Plan (AIR) and assisting in incident response activities, including investigation, analysis, and remediation of security breaches.
Leading security accreditation efforts by collaborating with all internal/external IT teams to design and implement secure network/application architectures and configurations.
Providing cybersecurity training and awareness programs to educate staff about security best practices and potential threats.
Staying current with emerging cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to proactively address potential risks.
Creating/maintaining agency disaster recovery and business continuity plans and contribute to its upkeep.
Participating in cross-functional teams to ensure the secure integration of new technologies and solutions.
Documenting security procedures, protocols, and incident reports for future reference and audits.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM) are highly desirable.
Proven experience in cybersecurity roles, including security assessments, incident response, and policy enforcement.
Good knowledge of cloud computing on-premises solutions, including managing and securing Active Directory and Firewall environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to facilitate interactions with external agencies and internal stakeholders.
Experience in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
Proficiency in implementing and managing security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and antivirus solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to security incidents.
Ability to analyze complex situations and make informed decisions to mitigate risks.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with legal terminology and court procedures preferred.
An understanding of the criminal justice system used in New York State and New York City is preferred.
Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics.
Exhibit an ability to maintain the confidentiality of information.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
