The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) supports the Department by acquiring, distributing, installing and maintaining Local Area Networks, personal computers, mainframe computers, software, and data communications networks. ITSD also plans and coordinates the implementation of advanced technology.
ITSD is seeking a qualified candidate for the title of IT Project Specialist whose duties will include but are not limited to:
-Migrating applications to the production and Disaster Recovery environment.
-Documenting problems, set up job flow dependencies and execute/troubleshoot flows on test environment.
-Troubleshooting integration issues between SharePoint, CRM and home-grown applications.
-Developing and maintaining standards and guidelines for implementing automated processes.
-Working across teams ensuring full documentation compliance for the functions performed by the team.
-Participating in human-centered design activities, user research, software prototyping (POC) and usability testing.
-Determining the cause of job failures and remediate the issue.
-Working with the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery team and monitoring table-top and actual failover events.
-Working with the team leads to ensure proper automation is in place e.g. backups, restores and failover scripts.
-Defining project scope, creating project plans, scheduling deliverables and mange risks; using DevOps for automating deployment and release management.
-Leading multi-disciplinary project teams, including those working on IT integration projects and consultants. This involves coordinating tasks, tracking progress and ensuring effective communication among team members.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loan after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full time for a qualifying employer, such as a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization. You may be able to consolidate a Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) and Federal Perkins Loan into a Direct Loan to qualify for PSLF.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.
As a precise, concise and expository writer, the ideal candidate possesses excellent communications skills (both oral and written), strong interpersonal abilities, organizational acumen, and analytical prowess. The candidate must be adept at explaining decisions, analyses and reports through written and verbal means. Additionally, experience in planning and executing data migrations between data centers and Azure is essential. The candidate should thrive in a dynamic environment, working on multiple projects concurrently while remaining enthusiastic about learning new technologies. With a background encompassing all aspects of system implementation and integration within an enterprise IT Production environment. Lastly, an understanding of government agency operations advantageous.
