Job Description

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the world's busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a (full-time) (IT Project Specialist) in the Bureau of (BTDS). Reporting directly to the (IT Infrastructure Director, IT Operations), seeks a Modern Workplace Rollout Engineer This position will organize and improve the use of Microsoft Modern Workplace software suite including Teams, Forms, Shifts among different divisions. The successful candidate must specialize in effectively matching the capabilities of these technologies with the distinct needs of a process oriented Public Safety organization with most employees functioning in the field. Reporting directly to the Manager, Servers and Systems Management, the successful candidate will Provide level 3 support for issues with the Modern Office suite
Create and Support Microsoft Teams, Forms, Scheduler and PowerBI integrations
Support users performing data analytics in Azure using PowerBI
Identity opportunities to automate Azure data flows using Power Automate
Coordinate and standardize the use of these tools across Fire, EMS, Marshals, Communications and Civilian use cases while meeting the needs of each population
Identify process improvements for the onboarding, offboarding and lifecycle management of user identities
Identify process improvements for using Modern Workplace technologies in conjunction with Public Safety operations
Coordinate with Human Capital and Bureau of Training to streamline account creation for probationary classes and empower Academy staff to perform first level support
Coordinate with Bureau of Training to develop a curriculum to enable both new and existing employees to have a common familiarity with relevant modern collaboration technologies

**Special Working Conditions: May be required to work shifts including nights, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.


Preferred Skills

5 years experience using Microsoft O365 and Google Office Suite 5 Years of experience managing and organizing datasets 5 Years of experience designing and implementing digitization of paper based processes Familiarity with FDNY training academies and Registrar functions Experience with FDNY PSAC dispatch operations New York State CFR or EMT-Basic Certification Documented experience presenting proposed improvements to decision makers
