Information Technology Infrastructure is the foundation or framework that supports a system or organization. In computing, information technology infrastructure is composed of physical and virtual resources that support the flow, storage, processing, and analysis of data. Infrastructure may be centralized within a data center, or it may be decentralized and spread across several data centers that are either controlled by the organization or by a third party, such as a colocation facility or cloud provider.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our IT Infrastructure team as a College Aide. This position has been created to address specific challenges within our team, with a focus on supporting critical IT infrastructure projects. The College Aide will play a key role in task offloading, project management, and strategic leadership in upgrading and developing monitoring systems.
Responsibilities:
- Take on tasks from team members who are handling critical projects, allowing them to focus on high-priority IT Infrastructure initiatives.
- Provide essential support to team members undergoing a transition in responsibilities, ensuring a seamless handover of tasks related to system management.
- Lead the upgrade and development of monitoring systems, aligning them with industry standards and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the team to implement automation strategies, contributing to our DevOps operations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with team members to understand their current workloads and identify tasks suitable for offloading to the College Aide
- Effectively manage assigned tasks, ensuring deadlines are met and project timelines are maintained.
For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
