Job Description

This vacancy has now expired.

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $41,887 - $48,170.

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City’s children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families at risk of a crisis through preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home. Each year, the agency’s Division of Child Protection responds to more than 50,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families. ACS is also a key part of NYCs early childhood and education continuum, providing childcare assistance to thousands of child welfare involved and low-income children so they can access safe, affordable, quality care.

The Division of Child and Family Well- Being (CFWB) has three (3) borough-based Resource Areas (RAs) responsible for verifying and re-certifying the eligibility of all low income (non-TANF) families for voucher child-care services. In 2017 the Resource Area underwent a major restructuring to facilitate a re-alignment of units by function to address uniformity throughout the system. This includes Eligibility Determination and Administrative which includes Intake, Data Entry and Scanning & Indexing. The intake team responds to and manages inquiries regarding childcare from walk-in families, email and telephone inquiries. The intake team also accepts childcare subsidy applications and recertifications via walk-ins, shared email boxes, a third-party vendor (I drive folder), and an online portal. These applications are assigned to case processors for eligibility certification in the Resource Area Control Log (RACL). Intake staff plays a critical role in this process, ensuring that cases are assigned in a timely manner so that we can adhere to State mandates regarding the childcare processing time frame.

Other responsibilities include:
- Perform complex data entry into child subsidy-related databases of data from applications and recertifications
- Coordinate, prepare and distribute appropriate communications to parents and programs
- Perform electronic indexing and scanning of documents
- Analyze scanned documents for clarity and accuracy
- Responsible for retrieving case files from imaging system
- Liaise with and provide information to the Central Intake Team and other RA unit staff
- Provide technical assistance and support to childcare programs in eligibility and enrollment issues
- Research and review case and program information in the Automated Child Care Information System (ACCIS)
- Assists with special projects, as needed
- May assist clients and programs in person with childcare applications and inquiries
- Retrieve cases from various shared mailboxes to assign to staff – and respond to parent inquiries
- Data-enter case information into Control Log
