The New York City Campaign Finance Board manages New York City’s small donor democracy program and educates and engages voters via NYC Votes. The CFB has enjoyed a tremendous arc of progress over its 30-year history, and our updated flagship small donor democracy program is the centerpiece of this progress.

The technology unit of the New York City Campaign Finance Board (NYC CFB) is responsible for custom software development, networking, technical support, and cybersecurity. The unit works to develop and maintain software systems tailored to the organization's needs, manage, and secure the organization's network infrastructure, and protect against potential cyber threats.
Reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure, with a broad scope for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, this administrator is responsible for maintaining the computer networks and systems including software, mainframes, VPNs, routers, and other physical hardware. They are also responsible for the installation and configuration of all network equipment and keeping the systems operating efficiently by performing all necessary upgrades and repairs. The selected candidate will also be required to monitor the network to ensure optimal performance, test the release of products to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility. While doing that they must continue to make sure the computer network aligns with CFB business goals and objectives. The selected candidate will also require the ability to problem solve and think critically while paying attention to details. They also must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working in a team environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Design, install, configure, and support network technologies including virtual servers, switches, firewalls, routers, VPN Gateways, and wireless access points
- Administer software deployment, security updates, and patches.
- Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
- Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
- Ensure network connectivity throughout the LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.
- Evaluate and determine network and system requirements for best performance
- Manage customer tickets assigned to infrastructure and provide detailed documentation on solutions.
- Experience developing and maintaining network documentation
- Experience with change management, product lifecycles, and customer service
- Ability to work on multiple, high-complexity assignments simultaneously
- Strong communication skills for working in a team and with clients
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to all CFB users.
- Work with various units within CFB to scope, architect, and implement advanced business solutions to meet customer needs.
- Report to the Director of IT Infrastructure with work progress on a regular basis as required
- Some after-hours support will be intermittently required based on client maintenance window needs

- Participate in all required activities as scheduled by leadership


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in computer programming and applications, computer systems analysis and development, or a closely related area; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college with a major in computer science and two years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of experience as described in "1" above; or
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.


Preferred Skills

- Experience supporting IT environments of at least 50 users. - Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and mastery of IT principles and procedures. - Knowledge of performance tuning, security, and scalability. - Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or related discipline. - 5+ years of Enterprise networking - 5+ years of hands-on experience with multiple of these networking brands: Lenovo, Dell, Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, and Check Point - Azure Cloud Platform - Intune - VXRail - Knowledge of MS Windows Server Platforms and Desktop Operating Systems - Virtual servers - Fortinet Network Security Engineer - Experience with device monitoring and logging tools - Ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles. - A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine (9) years of full-time satisfactory software experience including one (1) year in a leader capacity or as a major contributor in infrastructure support

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
