The Office of Human Resources (OHR) is responsible for the agency's human capital administration, which includes employment and recruitment, human resources, civil service administration, employee and labor relations, training and professional development, timekeeping & payroll, employee benefit programs, performance management, employee recognition, agency-wide events, and partnering with citywide and oversight agencies to facilitate the agency's workforce management business needs.


The Office of Human Resources (OHR) seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as a Human Resources Coordinator. The Human Resources Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the Employment Services Unit to streamline daily operations related to recruitment, onboarding, and civil service administration. The selected individual will also assist in managing employee database reporting and ensure that job postings are marketed effectively. Additionally, the Human Resources Coordinator will maintain accurate employee records for all NYC Aging Staff. The duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

- Prepare personnel actions for current employees, new hires, rehires, and process citywide transfers.

- Serve as the Job Opening Originator and PAR Processor for NYCAPS; create and post job vacancy notices and facilitate the on-boarding process for new hires.

- Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientations.

- Conduct classification review, and compensation and employment analysis.

- Maintain records for all non-NYC Aging personnel including Consultants, Reservists, Silver Stars and Interns.

- Administer civil service hiring pools based on the agency’s needs while adhering to civil service rules to ensure all list actions are completed within the specified timeframe.

- Coordinate all internal move request actions between appropriate departments to ensure they are addressed timely.

- Prepare correspondences and tracking reports.

- Manage the agency's Performance Management Reports; and assist in troubleshooting ePerformance issues for employees.

- Oversee the issuance and replacement of employee identification cards and building access credentials for NYC Aging personnel.

- Generate complex statistical reports to assist in OHR decision making processes.

- Perform additional Human Resources related duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

- Human Resources experience is a plus. - Knowledge of citywide human resources-related systems such as NYCAPS, PMS, PRISE, and CHRMS is a plus. - Excellent oral, written communication and public speaking skills. - Proficient with Microsoft Office experience with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint. - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and follow-up. - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with staff at all levels of the organization. - Candidate must be flexible, creative and be able to adapt.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
