Job Description

The Bureau of Human Resources would like to post for a HR Generalist/PAA II position.

NYCERS Status Change Notification:
-Candidate will handle oversight processing and submission of completed Form # 234 to NYCERS.
-Working with the Leave Coordinators to ensure that the forms are completed and submitted timely to NYCERS; track the leave movement including all extensions and return to duty on Smartsheet; complete the form timely and submit to NYCERS for all DOHMH employees on approved leave of absence until the Employee returns to duty.
Duties will include but not be limited to:

-Assist the Senior Director of Leaves and Benefits with completion of NYCERS Disability Retirement forms which will include accessing leave of absence information and/or Worker’s Compensation documents for submission to NYCERS.
-Candidate will have access to the necessary requested documents including leave letters, Worker’s Compensation information etc. to ensure information is submitted timely to NYCERS for this process.
-This timely submission will ensure that employees’ form and supporting information is submitted timely for faster respond by NYCERS.DP-2001 Processing and Traveling Personnel Folder Coordination
-Candidate will request all incoming employees’ completed DP-2001s forms and supporting document from employee’s former City agencies which include: employees’ city start date, pension info, leave balances, tax information, health insurance, incoming employee’s leave balances (sick and annual) and etc.
-The Agency may also request the employee Traveling Personnel Folder be forwarded to DOHMH.
-Candidate will communicate with the former agencies shortly after the employee’s first day with DOHMH.
-Candidate will review all incoming information to confirm the information is accurate. He will also complete and forward NYCERS Transfer/Reinstatement form(s) to NYCERS via secure process to ensure NYCERS is informed of the employee’s transfer or reinstatement.
-Candidate will update the tracking spreadsheet for these transactions.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
