The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operation budget of $3.3 billion and over 11,000 employees who manage and maintain 311 developments that house about 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to about 200,000 additional people.
The Housing Stock Worker works under general supervision of the Records Management Unit, with latitude for independent initiative and judgement.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
1. Prepare NYCHA records for offsite storage, including inspecting and verifying contents, labeling boxes, and building pallets.
2. Receive and assist in the loading or unloading of NYCHA records. May include providing offsite assistance at various NYCHA locations.
3. Keep warehouse clean and orderly.
4. Maintain accurate logs of warehouse activities and inventories.
NOTE: IF THIS APPOINTMENT IS MADE ON A PROVISIONAL BASIS PURSUANT TO 65 OF THE NYS CIVIL SERVICE LAW, NO TENURE OR PERMANENCE ACCRUES TO AN INCUMBENT IN THIS POSITION BY VIRTUE OF SUCH APPOINTMENT.
