- Conduct interviews using a standardized electronic database Siebel - Smart Script and/or interviewer's booklet developed by the department.
- Gather, copy, or request any pertinent documentation to verify the family composition, residence, rent payment history, income, priority claims, citizenship status and admission standards for
public housing.
- Access the City of New York Department of Finance Automated City Registered Information System (ACRIS) to search property records.
- Verify income by accessing electronic data from the New York State Welfare Management System (WMS) to verify Public Assistance, Food Stamps and Medicaid benefits.
- Evaluate documentation requested after the interview to determine the family composition, income, priority, rent payment history residence, citizenship status and standards of admission in
order to complete the initial interview.
- Work with applicants and tenants of public housing with a limited or no facility in English, as well as with English speaking applicants/tenants, speaking to them in the appropriate language;
performs related work.
- Scan documents to electronic case file.
- Access the electronic data of the United States Department of Homeland Security Systemic Alien Verification for Entitlements Program (SAVE) to verify immigration status.
- Access the HUD Enterprise Income Verification System (EIV) to identify current and former tenancy and monies owed.
- Conduct Landlord Contacts including reviewing landlord questionnaires and calling Landlords and shelters.
- Process development selection choices.
- Conduct Criminal Background checks including submitting requests to the Office of Court Administration (OCA) and evaluating criminal histories.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
An associate degree or sixty semester credits from an accredited college and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments, performing any one or a combination of the following duties: interviewing applicants; determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant-related problems; or
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in “1” above; or
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate college credit may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of satisfactory full-time experience. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent.
