The New York City Housing Authority’s division of Resident Services, Partnerships & Initiatives (RSPI) engages and connects NYCHA residents to critical programs, services, and the priorities within the Authority’s strategic plan to preserve New York City’s public housing.
RSPI’s Department of Resident Health Initiatives (RHI) builds health and advances health equity through innovation and cross-system collaboration that connects residents to preventive health resources, helps create healthier indoor environments, and cultivates resident leadership in health. The Department’s portfolio of work includes Smoke-Free NYCHA, Farms at NYCHA, Healthy Start @ NYCHA, community health worker initiatives and other health care partnerships, and strategic public health collaboration with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Reporting to the Healthy Start @ NYCHA Senior Project Manager, the Associate will support multifaceted work in pursuit of the program’s goal to ensure expecting NYCHA families have a safe home and are connected to available supportive resources.
Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, duties of the Associate include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Perform responsible work in any phase of operating the community program.
2. Perform assigned tasks to provide necessary and important community services.
3. Assist other project staff in supervising NYCHA Health Corps Members.
4. Support the implementation of successful processes to connect growing NYCHA families to interventions that address potential health and safety hazards in the home and to additional partner-based health and wellbeing support.
5. Engage internal NYCHA teams to assist with needed action to respond to the needs of NYCHA resident program participants.
6. Perform liaison functions to support the management of relationships with City agency and nonprofit partners that operate maternal/child/family health programs.
7. Document all resident outreach and resource navigation activities. Support the execution of strategies to secure resident stakeholder input in the program.
8. Provide exceptional customer service to resident program participants. Ensure connections to internal and external resources and work with team members to plan and execute special events as needed.
9. Provide needed community services support in the field, including performing outreach at developments and conducting home visits to provide support to program participants.
10. Provide additional support to the Healthy Start @ NYCHA Senior Project Manager as needed. Work with other Health Initiatives teams to support additional Resident Health Initiatives projects as needed.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
1. Strong interest in serving growing NYCHA families and being part of a team working to address maternal and birth inequities. 2. Ability to travel to developments across NYCHA’s portfolio citywide. 3. Excellent communication skills comfort communicating with NYCHA residents and other stakeholders. 4. Knowledge of home environmental hazards that pose a risk to pregnant women and newborns. 5. Significant knowledge of and experience with NYC’s public housing communities. 6. Organized and solid experience documenting work. 7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 8. Strong attention to details.
