The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Grand Jury unit is looking for a motivated individual to serve as a Grand Jury Coordinator, who will plan and coordinate jury activities. They will assist judges and jurors with all aspects of jury service.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the Coordination of Grand Jury Presentations made to the Grand Jury Panels
Managing and organizing the daily Grand Jury calendar and Manage the Grand Jury numbers
Communicate with ADAs along with External Agencies such as OCA, Grand Jury Court Officers; etc.
Scheduling of Grand Jury cases
Managing and updating the BXDA entries for each case seen in the Grand Jury Panels and maintain and keep the Activity Sheet updated
All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree preferred or a high school diploma with four (4) years of work experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization.
Strong organizational, verbal and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with legal terminology and court procedures preferred.
An understanding of the criminal justice system used in New York State and New York City is preferred.
Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics.
Exhibit an ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
