Major Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Director of Tree Preservation, with some latitude for independent judgment and decision-making, prepare, manage, and track the progress of forestry maintenance contracts across NYC.
- Assist in all aspects of the Forestry Maintenance Contracts program, including contracts, budgets, operations, reporting, policies, and procedures.
- Work in close coordination with the capital and expense contracts team to process budget allocations and payments, and draft and finalize contract specifications.
- Assist in the recruitment of new forestry vendors, with a focus on increasing the utilization of Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs).
- Coordinate with borough forestry staff to ensure consistent application of contract management, tree work, and safety protocols.
- Prepare briefings, reports, evaluations, budgets, and correspondence.
- Provide regular updates on the status of various projects and programs and ensure that projects advance in a timely manner.
- Support the division and agency in response to forestry storm events, including tracking emergency contract utilization.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in in data management. 2. Excellent organizational skills, data and budget management experience. 3. Excellent administrative and inter-personal skills, including verbal communication with both colleagues and constituents. 4. Interest in environmental studies, forestry, and/or government relations. 5. Excellent command/highly proficient in Spanish. 6. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel. 7. Experience with ArcGIS and ForMS. 8. Valid New York State driver license.
