Fleet at DCAS manages all NYC vehicles, equipment, fuel, leasing, and related services. The City’s fleet includes NYPD, FDNY, and DSNY and fifty agencies and offices in total, $1 billion+ in expenditure, and 1,800 full time staff. NYC Fleet leads Mayoral initiatives in safety as part of Vision Zero and sustainability as part of NYC Clean Fleet. DCAS manages the nation’s largest live tracking program for vehicles at the DCAS Office of Real Time Tracking (FORT).

Within NYC Fleet Claims Unit is responsible for the administration of affirmative vehicular claims for DCAS, fifty DCAS client fleets and most of the major fleet agencies including DSNY, the Department of Correction, DEP and DOE.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

- Subrogation of claims including filing new claims, preparation of subrogation packets and interaction with insurance companies through to settlement
- Coordination with agencies on collision information and documentation
- Entering collision and claims information and maintaining claims document retention in the Fleet Management system.
- Working with the Comptroller, fleet agencies, and Law to research and address claims against the City.
- Monthly reporting on collections, receivables and forecast data
- Entering, maintaining, and reporting on collision data in regard to the Citywide Collision Reporting (CRASH) system
- Defensive driving instruction
- Support of general fleet initiatives and related functions

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.


Preferred Skills

The candidate should possess proficiency in Microsoft Office with emphasis in Word and Excel excellent writing skills strong organization skills excellent communication and facilitation skills ability to quickly adapt to and effectively manage multiple and concurrent high-priority tasks.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
