Major Responsibilities
- Under the direction of borough management, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, manage
the borough’s fleet and small equipment.
- Coordinate with Parks’ Citywide Services on vehicle budgets, acquisitions, salvage and preventive maintenance
inspections; auto body, engine, transmission and warranty issues; recalls and other repairs.
- Coordinate, manage and monitor the Borough’s EZ-Pass usage.
- Monitor out-of-service fleet and assess impact of out-of-service vehicles on borough operations.
- Serve as a liaison between the borough and Citywide Services.
- Ensure all vehicle accident reports and supporting documents are uploaded promptly to the fleet portal.
- Assist managers and supervisors with the vehicle sharing program.
- Coordinate with DSNY and outside contractors on vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Develop yearly budgets for small equipment purchases.
- Manage small equipment acquisitions, repairs and salvage.
- Inventory and track all small equipment in the field through Asset Management Park System.
- Oversee the Expeditor Exchange program and small equipment replacement program.
- Promote Vision Zero initiatives, including vehicle tracking, safety programs and emission reduction technologies.
- Enforce compliance with agency rules, regulations, standards of conduct and vehicle operating procedures.
- Identify and communicate emerging issues to the Borough Chief of Operations.
- Monitor the Borough’s vehicle assignments and communicate changes to Fleet Services.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

1. Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. 2. Strong writing, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. 3. Excellent customer service skills.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam, or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
