The Environment and Planning division includes Central Forestry programs, Forestry Operations, the Natural Resources Group, Nurseries and Planning teams.

Major Responsibilities
- Manage fleet and small equipment for the Environment and Planning division.
- Coordinate with Parks’ Citywide Services division on vehicle budgets, acquisitions, salvage and PMI / MVIs; auto body, engine, transmission, and warranty issues; recalls and other repairs.
- Coordinate, manage, and monitor the Borough’s EZ-Pass usage.
- Monitor out-of-service fleet and assess impact of out-of-service vehicles on division operations.
- Ensure all vehicle accident reports and supporting documents are uploaded promptly to the Agency fleet portal.
- Assist staff with the vehicle sharing program.
- Coordinate with the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) and outside contractors on vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Develop yearly budgets for small equipment purchases.
- Manage small equipment acquisitions, repairs, and salvage.
- Inventory and track all small equipment in the field.
- Promote Vision Zero initiatives, including vehicle tracking, safety programs, and emission reduction technologies.
- Enforce compliance with Agency rules, regulations, standards of conduct, and vehicle operating procedures.
- Monitor the division’s vehicle assignments and communicate changes to Fleet Services.
- Use M5 to check and update vehicle status (in/out of service).
- Help write specifications for new vehicle acquisitions.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

1. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. 2. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. 3. High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint). 4. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. 5. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam, or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency is required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
