The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
The Office of Fiscal Operations is HRA’s primary payments and accounting office, and the core responsibilities are carried out through the operations of the Bureau of Accounts Payable, Revenue and Reimbursement, and Disbursement & Grant Accounting. The Division of Accounts Payable and Reporting (DAPR) is responsible for the employee expense claim processing, auditing, and data entry.
The Office of Fiscal Operations/DARP is requesting to fill one (1) Clerical Associate III to function as an Expense Auditor, who will:
- Audit and approve payments for staff members carfare requests.
- Approve Positive Pay Decisions in Bank of America (Daily).
- Retrieve check information in Bank of America to determine check status and to stop payments of checks.
- Review documentation submitted by staff to support claims and determine if information submitted is accurate.
- Monitor unit mailbox and respond to request for information from staff regarding check status and technical help.
- Review documentation for replacement checks.
- Mail check to employees that were returned to HRA.

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word. - highly organized, attentive to detail and capable of managing multiple tasks.
