The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the agency responsible for licensing and regulating New York City's yellow taxicabs, for-hire vehicles (community-based liveries and black cars), commuter vans, paratransit vehicles, and certain luxury limousines. Black cars include app-dispatched car services that can be scheduled on a cell phone. The TLC licenses and regulates approximately 130,000 vehicles and 180,000 drivers, performs safety and emissions inspections, and enforces violations of City and TLC rules and regulations, making it the most active taxi and limousine licensing regulatory agency in the United States. To learn more about the TLC, please visit: www.nyc.gov/taxi The Executive Assistant to the Commissioner will provide support to the TLC Commissioner/Chair, Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff. The Assistant to the Commissioner will manage the day-to-day operations of the executive office and provide assistance, analysis, and guidance in the management of the agencys administrative staff. Typical tasks may include Providing overall support to the Commissioner/Chair of the agency including managing calendars and correspondence. Assisting the Commissioner and department heads with operational and process management. Assisting with coordination on major initiatives. Participating and playing an active role in planning and organizing Commission Meetings and Public Hearings. Assisting with the creation of reports, PowerPoint presentations and correspondence to licensees and the general public. Responding to telephone and email requests for information from licensees, elected officials and the general public and coordinating timely agency responses. Ensuring meetings have set agendas and individuals identified to lead discussions. Maintaining project plans and workflow trackers. Proposing staff development initiatives for agency administrative staff.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
Interested candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and an understanding of data. Effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize, manage time, and engage in multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be highly motivated and able to work well independently and as part of a team. Experience with analytical and database software like Excel and Access is strongly desired. Substantial experience using Microsoft Word. Demonstrated accomplishment in oversight of clerical and administrative functions.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
