The New York City Mayor’s Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit (CAU) is the fundamental connection between City Hall and New York City residents throughout the five boroughs. The primary mission of CAU is to establish deep partnerships with communities in order to engage and mobilize New Yorkers. To this end, CAU is directly responsible for integrating government into communities by working with mayoral agencies to ensure the effective and efficient deployment of government services and the Mayor’s top policy priorities and initiatives.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Executive Assistant to the Commissioner is responsible for administrative tasks for CAU, including but not limited to:
- Supporting staff assignments with desks, computers, a car, and parking placards.
- Managing Purchase orders of supplies, reimbursements, and team gear.
- Managing the Commissioner's schedule and day-to-day movements.
- Executive-level administrative support to the Commissioner, First Deputy Commissioner.
- Perform ad hoc assignments and special projects as necessary.

- You are highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize conflicting demands.
- You have the ability to work independently and within a fast-paced environment.
- You have excellent time management skills.
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Special Assistant (MA)-MGRL - 0668A
- High school graduation or equivalent and four years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to duties.
- Experience working with government entities or in community outreach roles, preferably within New York City.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects concurrently.
- You can pay attention to detail and have the ability to work quickly under pressure. - You have excellent written or verbal communication. - You have the ability to use computer programs and technology. - You can speak multilingual, a plus. - You have demonstrated the ability to navigate complex community issues and advocate effectively for diverse populations.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
