The Enrollment Assistants will be responsible for the enrollment process, verify documents and applications for completeness, answer questions from the applicants about the program, and provide support to the Enrollment Specialist. He/she will encourage people to apply by answering questions and providing information about the benefits and requirements for the program, maintaining order in the intake center, ensuring that all applicants know their place in the queue and are being assisted in the order they arrived, and managing the scheduling of appointments made by applicants to enroll in the IDNYC.
IDNYC is requesting approval to recruit five (5) Community Assistants to function as an Enrollment Assistants.
Reporting to the Intake Supervisor, IDNYC, the Enrollment Assistants will:
- Assist applicants to the IDNYC Program; move through the enrollment process quickly
and efficiently, verify documents and applications for completeness, answer questions
from the applicants about the program and provide support to the Enrollment Specialist.
- Encourage people to apply for municipal IDs by answering questions and providing
information about the benefits and requirements for the program.
- Review applicants’ documents for completeness in advance of enrollment, ensuring the
applicant has all necessary paperwork and documentation to streamline the enrollment
procedure.
- Maintain order in the intake center, ensuring that all applicants know their place in the
queue and are being assisted in the order they arrived.
- Manage the scheduling of appointments made by applicants to enroll in the IDNYC
Program.
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
- At least 1 year of experience in intake and enrollment specifically in social service, customer service, public administration, or a related field. - Client focused with a strong knowledge of immigrant and other vulnerable populations and community-based organizations. - Computer technology skills including a proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new technology quickly preferred. - Data entry experience preferred - Experience working for City government and/or immigrant or community- based organization entities. - Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing. - Highly professional demeanor. - Must maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality. - Multilingual a plus.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
