The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Enough is Enough Coordinator will meet with various Bronx College/University Staff to discuss what prevention, education and direct services the Crime Victims Assistance Unit’s Rape Crisis Prevention Program can offer to colleges/universities to assist them be in compliance with the Enough is Enough legislation. Once an MOU/Agreement has been agreed upon, the coordinator will be responsible to coordinate and provide sessions and or workshops to: campus police; resident hall staff; student services staff and all other faculty; students; and student clubs/groups on preventing sexual assault and intimate partner violence, what constitutes sexual assault and intimate partner abuse, how and who to report these crimes and what services are available to victims/survivors. The coordinator reports directly to the Program Director.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with campus personnel at nine college campuses in the Bronx.
Conducts needs assessments for college campuses on gender-based violence prevention and response practices.
Use needs assessment data to develop and implement collaborative, trauma-informed interventions to prevent and respond to gender-based violence on college campuses.
Engage in activities that promote the education of college campus communities and at-risk student populations about domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
Develop creative and interactive events, awareness campaigns, and outreach tools to educate diverse college campus communities on gender-based violence.
Facilitate interactive workshops on topics such as affirmative consent, trauma-informed care, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and other content related to gender-based violence to
diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff members.
Collaborate with community-based organizations, coalitions, and committees in developing and facilitating trauma-informed and survivor-centered education and awareness campaigns for sexual
violence prevention.
Attending meetings, information fairs, professional training, community outreach and educational programming, and other meetings as directed.
Compile quarterly and annual reports on program accomplishments and outcomes using strong written communication skills.
Advocate for college student survivors of gender-based violence through the Title IX disciplinary process and criminal proceedings.
Facilitate referrals to community-based resources for college student survivors of gender-based violence.
Employ trauma-focused modalities to offer individual trauma therapy to college student survivors of gender-based violence.
Develop and facilitate trauma-focused support groups for college student survivors of gender-based violence and related populations.
Develop and facilitate trauma-informed therapeutic workshops for special populations of college students, such as men and boys, LBGTQIA students, international students, student-athletes, and
non-traditional student populations.
Participate in occasional events outside of standard work hours.
Develop a relationship with the Bronx DA’s Office Public Information staff
All other relevant duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree required, master’s degree in social work and LMSW is preferred.
Past advocacy experience is strongly preferred.
Prior knowledge of Title IX, trauma-informed care, and anti-oppressive frameworks are strongly preferred.
A strong understanding of cultural dynamics of gender-based violence, including rape culture and intersectional social justice is strongly preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced non-structured environment.
Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including public speaking to large groups.
Ability to comfortably interact with a diverse population.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
