The NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
The Sheriff’s Office serves and enforces court mandates, orders of protection, warrants, decrees, and property seizures. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office conducts criminal investigations of real property fraud, tax crimes, and the trafficking of illegal and untaxed tobacco products and synthetic narcotics, and monitors defendants referred by the courts for electronic monitoring.
The Sheriff’s Office, Marshal Enforcement Unit, conducts operations such as booting, towing and auctioning of vehicles that have outstanding parking violations judgment debt. Marshals and Deputies also receive executions and patrol the streets in all five boroughs using the License Plate Reader (LPR) that are mounted on vehicles which scan license plates checking for scofflaws. Enforcement Support Associate will respond to inquiries from the Sheriff's office, city marshals, DOF, and the public.
Under supervision, with latitude for independent judgment, performs supervisory and/or moderately difficult clerical duties. The selected candidate's responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Performs moderately difficult data entry and retrieval using office systems and database.
- Supervise and instruct staff in routine functions.
- Performs responsible clerical work in areas such as personnel administration, accounts, budgeting, methods and organization, and other administrative and operational areas by processing, recording, checking, and maintaining records.
- Receive and process payments from the public in the form of cash and non-cash remittances.
- Assists in the performance of administrative duties or performs difficult and responsible clerical tasks related to shop and field operations such as, receiving and answering the telephone, maintaining all time and personnel records of field location.
- Prepare required reports, requisitioning supplies and maintaining shop inventory control of stock.
- Compiles and maintains central file of records and data for reports.
Supervisory activities include, but are not limited to:
- Assigning work, scheduling clerical support staff hours, reviewing work of subordinates and ensuring imposed deadlines are met.
- Resolves difficult workflow problems associated with manual or automated clerical support systems, often in non-standard situations, by adjusting work procedures and methods.
- Assist in the facilitation of inquiries regarding vehicles that have been booted, towed, and seized.
- Act as a point of contact for all front-end inquiries regarding seized vehicles, parking violations, judgement debt, and auctions.
- May perform other tasks and duties at the discretion of the supervisor.
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
