THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $41,887 - $48,170.

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City’s children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families through community-based programming and preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home. Each year, the agency’s Division of Child Protection responds to more than 50,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families. ACS is also a key part of NYC’s early childhood and education continuum, providing childcare assistance to thousands of child welfare involved and low-income children so they can access safe, affordable, quality care.

ACS’ Division of Child and Family Well-being (CFWB) has three (3) borough-based Resource Areas (RAs) responsible for verifying and re-certifying the eligibility of all low income (non-TANF) families for low-income voucher child-care services. This includes Eligibility Determination and Administrative which includes Intake, Data Entry and Scanning & Indexing.

The Eligibility Case Processor is responsible to process and certify eligibility for voucher cases for families in need of child care. The Eligibility Case Processor will also liaise with the Eligibility Team Leader to ensure that child care cases are processed accurately and timely according to office procedures and the appropriate state regulations. Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Review case information and certify eligibility for the low-income child care subsidy voucher.
- Review child care case documentation and ensure accuracy and compliance with state and local regulations.
- Certify eligibility and/or terminate or reassign child care enrollments according to criteria, procedures and regulations.
- Recertify child care eligibility for families receiving a low-income child care voucher.
- Update the Control Log with relevant case status information.
- Respond to parent’s inquiries re-issues with child care eligibility.
- Responds to requests from parents/providers/other interested individuals concerning eligibility and enrollment.
- Liaise with the Central Intake unit re: logging-in cases and assignment to eligibility team.
- Compile and assess the information in mail-in recertification cases.
- Access HRA One Viewer and/or ACCIS to ascertain case and child information.
- May distribute child care information to parents, providers, and programs.
- May scan and index case documents onto the HRA One Viewer.


ADDITONAL INFO:
Section 424-A of the New York Social Services Law requires an authorized agency to inquire whether a candidate for employment with child-caring responsibilities has been the subject of a child abuse and maltreatment report.

1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
